PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Yale women's fencing team competed at the Philadelphia Invitational hosted by the University of Pennsylvania on Sunday. The Bulldogs compiled a 3-3 record while facing four top-10 teams according to SPI rankings. Yale improves to 14-6 so far this season.
The Bulldogs topped No. 8 Ohio State in the second round of the event to begin their day. The team was particularly impressive in the epee, outscoring the Buckeyes 7-2, leading to the victory.
Following losses to No. 4 Penn State and No. 5 Duke, Yale bounced back with wins over Temple and Northwestern. In the final round, the Bulldogs squared off with their Ivy League rivals, Princeton. Despite winning the epee 5-4 and the foil 8-1, Princeton was able to prevail 14-13 thanks to a 9-0 victory in the saber.
