Jin Leads the Way as Yale Opens with Win at Fordham Fiasco

NEW YORK – The Yale women's cross country team opened the 2025 season with a win at the Fordham Fiasco Saturday morning at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The Bulldogs (26 pts.) topped Ivy League rival Columbia (second place, 39 pts.) and host Fordham (third place, 61 pts.).
  • Sophomore Lily Jin finished first overall with a time of 19:39.90. This marked the first first-place finish of her Yale career, and her second time cracking Yale's top five in a race.
  • Senior Miranda Lorsbach took second with a time of 20:04.50.
  • Sophomore Sylvie Sanok Dufallo (sixth, 20:24.40), junior Kalista Villatoro (eighth, 20:33.40) and senior Cara Joyce (ninth, 20:44.70) rounded out Yale's top five. This was Villatoro's second career collegiate cross country race.
  • Senior Anna Chamberlin placed 10th with a time of 20:53.60.
  • Chamberlin was the lone runner out of nine Bulldog returnees from last year's Ivy League Heptagonal Championships squad to compete Saturday.
  • Jin, Lorsbach, Sanok Dufallo and Villatoro all were part of the Yale squad that won the ECAC Championship at Van Cortlandt Park last year.
  • Van Cortlandt Park is the site of this year's Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, set for Oct. 31.
