NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Junior middle blocker
Laurece Abraham has been named this week's Ivy League Player of the Week, as announced on Monday, September 15.
A .512 hitting percentage in three matches while averaging 2.40 kills and 1.00 blocks per set helped Abraham be named to the Yale-Fairfield Invite All-Tournament Team. In a win over previously unbeaten UConn, she had 13 kills and hit .478 with six total blocks. The next night, in a three-set victory over Northeastern, Abraham had five kills on eight swings without an error and added three total blocks.
Abraham is currently second in the Ivy League in hitting percentage with .447 over 20 sets. This is her second Player of the Week nod, the first coming on Sept. 30, 2024.
Yale will be traveling to the west coast this weekend to play San Diego on Sept. 18, UC San Diego on Sept. 19 and San Diego State on Sept. 20, wrapping up nonconference play.Â
