NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's soccer team is set to kick off its 2025 campaign at Vermont on Friday, Aug. 22, and then will host Hofstra for its home opener and Mary Wade Senior Night on Sunday, Aug. 24.

"I have loved every second of preseason with this group we have," said Sarah Martinez, Loring Family Head Coach of Women's Soccer. "They have been sponges towards the information we've given them and the work rate and competitiveness has been fantastic. As we know, we must translate that into getting results in meaningful matches and I am excited to start the season and see what we are about. We feel great about our depth in each position as well as the leadership we've seen from our entire squad."

"This team is hungry and our mindset continues to be getting better every day to be playing our best soccer in October and November," Martinez added.

A Look at the Opponents
Vermont has a 0-0-2 record after playing to a scoreless draw with Sacred Heart on Sunday. The Catamounts were projected to finish fifth in the America East preseason poll for the second straight year, and Sydney Remington garnered preseason all-conference honors. Remington started a career-high 18 games last season.

Hofstra enters the weekend with a 2-0 record and is coming off a 3-0 victory over Quinnipiac. In the win, Manon Lebargy scored a pair of second-half goals, and Olivia Pearse scored the Pride's first goal on a penalty kick. Hofstra was picked to finish third in the CAA North Division and had four players named to the Preseason All-CAA Team.

Preseason Predictions
The Ivy League announced its preseason poll on Monday, and the Bulldogs were selected to finish fifth. The poll is voted on by media members and league communications directors. Princeton was picked to finish at the top with 118 points and nine first-place votes. Brown and Harvard also received first-place votes—six and one, respectively—and were voted to finish second and third. Columbia came in fourth, followed by Yale, while Dartmouth, Penn and Cornell rounded out the poll.

Fresh Faces
Joining the Bulldogs this year are JoJo DeNegri, Yurika Ishibe, Avery Johnson, Selma Larbi, Tana Sands, Aubrey Scoble, and Eloise Stone. All seven hail from the United States and look to make their Yale debuts this season.

The Captain
The Bulldogs will be led this season by senior Ashley Kirschner, who has been an important member of Yale's offensive attack. Last season, she played in 15 of the Bulldogs' 16 games and picked up a goal and a pair of assists. In her career, Kirschner has appeared in 37 games and has recorded four goals, four assists and 38 shots in 1,150 minutes played.

Looking Ahead
The Bulldogs will hit the road to face Vanderbilt on Friday, Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. ET.
