STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Yale women's soccer team fell to Stony Brook, 5–3, on Thursday evening at LaValle Stadium. The Seawolves netted three goals in the first half and withstood a second-half surge from the Bulldogs to seal the victory.
Stony Brook improves to 5-2-1, and Yale drops to 2-4-0.
"That's a really tough one for us," said
Sarah Martinez, Loring Family Head Coach of Women's Soccer. "We created some really quality chances for large stretches of the game, and we have to capitalize on those because goals change games. Our group really turned it on in the second half, but going down 3-0 in the first is a tough deficit to overcome. Credit to Stony Brook — they won both boxes, and ultimately, that's what wins games."
"We need to tighten things up defensively, but I have no doubt we will be ready to go on Sunday against a very well-coached Fordham team," added Martinez.
