BOSTON – The Yale women's track and field team had another strong showing at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invite, held at Boston University's Track and Field Center on Saturday. Now firmly in the middle of the indoor season, the Bulldogs' hard work is evident: the day was marked by a new 500m school record, Yale's second-fastest time ever in the 1k, and more personal records.
The Bulldogs:
- Sophomore Victoria Guerrier set a new 500m Yale record, winning the event with a time of 1:11.44 – more than a second faster than her previous record of 1:12.57 from earlier this season at Y-D-C. Sophomore Gloria Guerrier finished third in the same event, clocking a time of 1:12.37, just shy of her personal record.
- Senior Iris Bergman secured her place on Yale's top-10 all-time list for the 1k, finishing fourth overall with a time of 2:45.16 -- the second-fastest time ever run by a Bulldog.
- Freshman Anna Siciliano earned third place in the shot put with a throw of 13.06m. She also matched her personal best in the weight throw with a mark of 13.61m.
- First-year Kenzie McElroy set personal records in both the long jump (5.16m) and the 200m dash, where her time of 25.43 seconds ranked fifth in the open event.
- Junior Molly Harding ran a season-best 55.62 seconds in the 400m invitational, just shy of her personal record. Senior Peyton Parker won the open 400m in a PR of 56.86 seconds.
- The 800m featured six Bulldogs. Yale's top finisher was junior Carmel Fitzgibbon, who earned third place in her heat with a time of 2:06.99.
- Senior Kylie Goldfarb broke the 5-minute mark in the mile for the first time, setting a personal best of 4:59.56, nearly two seconds faster than her previous PR.
- In the 3k, junior Linde Fonville posted an impressive 9:44.26, while junior Marisa Poe set a new personal record of 10:02.52, winning her heat and improving her previous best by 13 seconds.
Up Next:
- Next weekend, the Bulldogs will split for their final competition before the Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championships. Some team members will compete at the Giegengack Invitational in Coxe Cage, while others will travel to Boston for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at BU. Both meets, taking place on Feb. 15, will provide one last opportunity to fine-tune performances before the Ivy League competition at Heps, scheduled for the weekend of Mar. 1.
