BOSTON and NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A group of middle- and long-distance athletes from Yale's women's track and field team traveled to Boston to compete in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational Saturday, held at BU's indoor track and field center. The Invitational offered a top-tier racing environment. Meanwhile, other Yale athletes competed locally at the Giegengack Invitational in Coxe Cage, where competition was also stiff.

This weekend marked the final opportunity for the Bulldogs to compete before the Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championships in two weeks.

The David Hemery Valentine Invitational:

• In what is almost a weekly occurrence, sophomore Victoria Guerrier set a new Yale record. This time, she re-broke her 800m record, running 2:03.69 to finish as the sixth collegiate athlete overall.
• In the 400m, sophomore Gloria Guerrier was Yale's top finisher, clocking in at 55.63, just a tenth of a second shy of her personal best of 55.52. Junior Molly Harding followed closely behind with a time of 56.27.
• Junior Linde Fonville set a new personal record in the mile, running an impressive 4:46.76 to finish second in her heat. Sophomore Hebe Chadwick and first year Zoe Martonfi also recorded personal bests, posting times of 4:48.23 and 4:54.40, respectively.
• Junior Charlotte Whitehurst broke the 9:30 barrier in the 3k for the first time, running 9:28.70.

The Giegengack Invitational:

• Sophomore Juliette Kosmont once again broke her own 60m Yale record in the prelims, clocking 7.48 seconds. She went on to win the 60m finals in 7.51 seconds.
• First year Squirrel Lanz ran a new personal best of 8.80 seconds in the finals of the 60m hurdles, finishing fourth overall.
• Senior captain Dominique Romain earned second place in the long jump with a mark of 5.73m, just shy of 19 feet.
• Senior Arielle Moore came within half a second of her personal record in the 500m, running 1:17.40 to take fifth place overall.
• Junior Anna Chamberlin had a standout performance, starting with a win in her heat of the mile with a personal best of 4:59.75 and then returning to finish second overall in the 800m with a time of 2:16.07.
• First year Sylvie Sanok Dufallo set a personal record in the 1k with a time of 2:53.69, finishing second overall.
• The meet concluded with four distance runners competing in the 4x400m relay, running a shorter distance than usual. Junior Ruby Barton, Sanok Dufallo, sophomore Daniella Henderson and first year Lily Jin each ran two laps around the 200m indoor track, securing third place overall after competing in individual events earlier in the day.

• Next weekend, the Bulldogs have a break from scheduled competition in preparation for Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championship the following weekend. Indoor Heps, which are scheduled for Mar. 1-2, will be hosted by Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y., at the Gordon Track.
