Egger Among Ivy Leaders
Senior guard/forward
Mackenzie Egger (Mount Pleasant, Mich.) is among the Ivy League top 10 in five categories:
- 1st in rebounding (9.5 rpg)
- 3rd in steals (1.9 spg)
- 5th in blocked shots (0.8 bpg)
- 5th in scoring (15.8 ppg)
- 9th in field goal percentage (.463)
Egger, an economics major, was an operations intern for BNY Mellon last summer and participated in the Business for Good Intern Case Competition. Her team's idea, CreditHer, focused on supporting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals by providing microloans to women-owned small businesses. Her team advanced to the top five and earned the chance to travel to New York City to present their idea to a panel of executives from BNY as well as David Ohana, Chief Communications and Marketing Officer at the United Nations. They also had the privilege of taking a private tour of the UN headquarters.
Home Sweet Home
Friday marks the start of three straight home games for Yale. The Bulldogs have played just one home game since Jan. 4.
Reversal of Fortune
Yale has won four of the last seven games in the series vs. Penn, including a
74-68 overtime win at the Palestra last year. Prior to that, the Quakers had won five in a row – and 12 of the last 13 – in the series.
Scouting Princeton
Princeton (13-5, 4-1 Ivy League) is one game behind first-place Columbia in the Ivy League standings. The Tigers had a seven-game winning streak snapped by a 58-50 loss at Columbia Jan. 20. They then bounced back with a 62-54 win at Cornell Jan. 25, though that marked their smallest margin of victory over the Big Red since a four-point win (68-64) Feb. 22, 2019. Princeton has been playing without guard Madison St. Rose, a second team All-Ivy League pick last year, since she suffered a season-ending injury in the fourth game.
Scouting Penn
Penn (10-8, 1-4 Ivy League) is tied with Yale for sixth in the Ivy League standings, two games behind fourth-place Brown. The Quakers have lost two in a row and four of their last five heading into Friday's game at Brown. The Quakers lead the Ivy League in blocks per game (4.17), rank second in the Ivy League in rebounds per game (37.9) and rank third in the Ivy League in offense (66.7 points per game).
