ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Yale baseball team dropped a doubleheader on the road to Cornell on Saturday afternoon. The Big Red toppled the Bulldogs in a 10-9 thriller in game one, before winning 8-2 in the second contest.
With the victories, Cornell improves to 10-4 in conference play and sit atop the Ivy League standings. The Bulldogs drop to 6-8 and are currently in sixth place in the league.
Game 1 -- Cornell 10, Yale 9
How it Happened
- Top 2nd | The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first with RBI singles from Kaiden Dossa and Garrett Larsen.
- Top 4th | Tommy Martin homered for the visitors to extend the lead to 4-0. Later in the inning, Robert Ciulla drove in a run.
- Top 7th | Alec Atkinson doubled home a pair of runs. The Bulldogs scored another run on a Cornell error and led 8-0 after seven turns at bat.
- Bottom 8th | Cornell tallied seven runs in the bottom of the eighth to close the gap.
- Bottom 9th | The Big Red tied it up on a single by Caden Wildman.
- Top 10th | In extra innings, Jeff Pierantoni brought home Ciulla on a sac fly to give the Bulldogs the 9-8 lead.
- Bottom 10th | Cornell walked it off on a John Quinlan double that brought home the tying and winning runs.
Game Notes
- Yale starting pitcher Reid Easterly tossed a gem, throwing seven shutout innings, while striking out seven. Tate Evans picked up the loss in relief.
- Martin smashed his first home run of the season.
- Atkinson picked up three hits for the Bulldogs.

How it Happened
- Top 1st | Atkinson doubled home two runs to give the Bulldogs the early 2-0 lead.
- Bottom 2nd | Cornell tied it with a single by Max Jensen.
- Bottom 4th | The Big Red took the lead off a two-run shot by Quinlan.
- Bottom 5th | Jensen picked up his third RBI of the game to extend the hosts' lead.
- Bottom 8th | Cornell tallied three more runs to seal the 8-2 victory.
