Archrival Harvard Visits Lee Amphitheater Saturday Afternoon

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's basketball team hosts Harvard Saturday at Lee Amphitheater (1:00 p.m., ESPN+, International Stream, Live Stats, Tickets). The Crimson is currently tied for second (with Brown and Columbia) in the league standings at 3-1, but the Bulldogs are just two games back.
 
Last Game
Yale (4-13, 1-3 Ivy League) beat Dartmouth 48-46 last Saturday at Lee Amphitheater. Senior guard Jenna Clark (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and sophomore guard Kiley Capstraw (West Orange, N.J.) tied for the team lead in points with 16. 
 
McGill Stays Defensive
Junior guard Nyla McGill (Charlotte, N.C.), last year's Ivy League Co-Defensive Player of the year, is sixth in the league in steals per game (1.7) and seventh in the league in rebounds per game (6.7). McGill had one of the best games of her career last year at Harvard, scoring 17 points and adding 20 rebounds in the Bulldogs' 71-70 overtime win Feb. 3, 2023.
 
McDonald Excels at Both Ends of Court
Senior forward Brenna McDonald (Natick, Mass.) is second in the Ivy League in field goal percentage (.540) and third in the league in blocked shots per game (1.4). She has more than doubled her points per game compared to last season (to 8.4 from 3.1). With seven more blocks, she will move into a tie for 10th on Yale's career blocks list (she currently has 49).
 
Consistent Capstraw
Sophomore guard Kiley Capstraw (West Orange, N.J.) has scored no less than 12, and as many as 16 points, in each of the last five games (and seven of the last eight games). Her season high in points is 21, set against UMass Dec. 1. Her career high in points is 24, set Nov. 14, 2022 in a 68-61 win against Fairfield.
 
Clark Provides Impressive Amount of Offense 
By scoring or assisting, senior guard Jenna Clark (Pittsburgh, Pa.) has had a hand in more than 46 percent of Yale's field goals this season. No other Ivy League player has had a hand in more than 39 percent of her team's field goals. 
 
Harvard, Yale's opponent this Saturday, does not have any players who account for more than 33 percent of the team's field goals.

Bulldogs at Lee
Yale has played its opponents evenly at home this season, posting a 4-4 won-lost record and scoring the exact same amount of points (481 for Yale, 481 for Yale's opponents). The Bulldogs are dramatically better at free throws at Lee Amphitheater, shooting .724 at home vs. .629 on the road.

Harvard has won the last two in a row in this series, but neither team has won more than two in a row in the series since 2017. That year, Yale's 57-52 win on Feb. 24 snapped a streak of 10 Harvard wins in a row in the series.

Harvard (10-7, 3-1 Ivy League) has bounced back from a 72-49 loss to Princeton on Jan. 13 to win its last two games by double digits, 73-59 at Brown on Jan. 15 and 69-56 against Penn this past Saturday. Guard Harmoni Turner, who returned from an injury just in time for Yale's game at Harvard Jan. 6, is averaging a team-best 20.8 points per game. Guard Elena Rodriguez is tied for fourth in the Ivy League in assists per game (3.7).
