ITHACA, N.Y. – The bats were hot in Ithaca as the Yale softball team defeated Cornell, 8-2, at Niemand-Robison Field. The win puts the Bulldogs at 10-14 overall and 3-4 in the Ivy League, while the Big Red moved to 8-10 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

Scoring Plays
- T1 | Carolyn Skotz got the Bulldogs started with a lead-off single to left center. Libby Peoples would give Yale two baserunners early on. Willa Ferrer then took her shot at the plate and knocked a single up the middle to score Skotz, and advanced to second on the attempted throw to home. Sophie Woodridge made it a three-run lead with a shot to the gap that scored Peoples and Ferrer. Woodridge would eventually score to give Yale a massive four-run lead at the end of one.
- B4 | Action was quiet until Cornell found the scoresheet in the fourth. After the lead-off batter got on base, the Big Red used two back-to-back hits to cut Yale's lead in half.
- T6 | The Bulldogs continued to roll in the sixth inning. With no outs and one on, Sam Goodcase knocked a RBI double to right field. Goodcase would eventually land on third in the next sequence and scored on a Skotz RBI single, expanding Yale's lead to four once again.
- T7 | Leading off in the seventh, Willa Ferrer blasted an absolute shot to deep left field for the solo home run. Lauren Perren followed that up with a solo shot of her own to the opposite side in right.
- B7 | Hannah Turner retired the side in a 1-2-3 inning to secure the victory for Yale.
