Reid Easterly earns second win of the season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Colton Shaw homered and Reid Easterly tossed six solid innings to earn his second win of the season as the Bulldogs split a doubleheader at Alabama State on Saturday.

Yale won game two 7-2, and dropped the opener 10-0.  With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 2-3 on the season.

Shaw had three hits and scored three runs including a first-inning two-run homer to give Yale the early lead.  The homer was part of a four-run inning.

After Shaw homered, Jimmy Chatfield reached on an infield single, and two batters later Carson Swank was hit by a pitch.  The two successfully executed a double steal and Chatfield scored on a throwing error.

Easterly struck out five, including a three-strikeout fourth, and allowed two runs.  Mark Capell came on in the seventh and struck out seven of nine batters faced and earned a three-inning save.

Swank and Chatfield struck again later in the game.  Chatfield singled home Shaw in the sixth and Swank singled home Chatfield in the eighth.

In game one, AJ Gaich and Jeff Pierantoni both had two hits.
