Providence, R.I. – The Yale bats exploded for 14 hits in a 16-2 victory at Brown on Friday afternoon.
Jimmy Chatfield scored four runs, and
Jake Williams added three hits, three runs scored and two stolen bases in the win. The Bulldogs scored five in the first and never trailed.
Jeff Pierantoni singled up the middle to score Chatfield to open the scoring.
AJ Gaich had a two-run double, while
Beck Milner and
Tommy Martin added RBIs in the first.
Mark Capell pitched the first inning and handed the ball off to
Colton Shaw. From there, Shaw shutdown the Bears the rest of the way.
Shaw struck out 12 and allowed five hits in eight scoreless innings and earned his second win of the season.
Pierantoni,
Davis Hanson and Gaich all had two hits. The Bulldogs also drew 12 walks, including four from
Alec Atkinson.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 2-2 in Ivy League play. The two teams return to field on Sunday for a doubleheader beginning at 11:30 a.m. in Providence.
