NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale softball team takes a break from Ivy League play and travels to Fairfield to meet the Stags in a single game on Wednesday. The first pitch at Alumni Softball Field is slated for 3 p.m.

The Bulldogs are coming off a successful weekend trip to Dartmouth where they won two of three games. Most notably, Yale had a big offensive weekend, belting eight home runs, scoring 17 runs and posting a .299 average.

Maddie Latta, who was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, hit three home runs, while
Katie Donahey and
Grayson Vives each went deep twice.
Carmen Muscolina also homered.
Sam Goodcase went 6-for-8 in the series to raise her average to .426, which leads the Ivy League and is 55th in the nation.

The Stags (5-14) are gearing up for their MAAC openers this weekend at Rider. Yale is the first of two Ivy League opponents on the schedule as Columbia visits Alumni Field next Wednesday. Haley Updegraff leads Fairfield with a .327 average, 16 runs scored and seven doubles. The Stags have four pitchers with at least 20 innings in the circle. Katie Kudlacik leads the staff with 17 strikeouts. Julie Brzezinski is in her 25th season as the head coach at Fairfield.

The Bulldogs host a three-game series with Brown this weekend. The teams play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. The first pitch on both days is slated for 12:30 p.m.
