NEW HAVEN, Conn. -Â The Yale softball team will open its home schedule this weekend and start Ivy League play with a three-game series against Harvard. Â The Bulldogs host the Crimson on Friday with a doubleheader at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium. The first pitch of the first game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
The two games were originally scheduled for Saturday and moved due to the weather forecast. The series concludes with a single game on Sunday starting at 12:30 p.m.
The Bulldogs are coming off last weekend's games in Tucson, Ariz., against No. 8 Arizona, Mountain West preseason favorite UNLV and Marist.Â
Sam Goodcase and
Maddie Latta earned spots on the weekly Ivy League Honor Roll for their efforts last week.
Goodcase went 6 for 12 last week including a homer against No. 9 Arizona. Â Latta had a three-hit game against Marist with a double, triple, a run scored and a RBI. Â
Entering the week, Goodcase leads the Bulldogs in hitting with a .400 average, Latta is second on the team at .273. Â
SJ Mull (.259) and
Katie Donahey (.250) are right behind.
Nicole Conway took a shutout into the fifth last Friday for Yale against Arizona before the Wildcats rallied for the come-from-behind win over the Bulldogs. Â Conway leads the team with five starts and three complete games.Â
Harvard enters play with a 6-10 mark overall that included two losses at Loyola Marymount earlier this week.  The Crimson will also be playing their first conference games. Harvard sophomore Anna Reed was named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week.  Reed held a 0.54 ERA in four appearances combined against North Dakota and St. Mary's.
Next up after this weekend, the Bulldogs will host Central Connecticut for a doubleheader on Wednesday.Â
