NEW HAVEN, Conn. – It's back on the road for another weekend tournament for the Yale softball team. The Bulldogs are headed to Lynchburg, Va., for the Liberty Classic where they will play five games in three days starting with two on Friday. Due to forecast of cold temperatures there have been a number of changes to the schedule.
Yale is coming off a strong opening performance last weekend in Northern California at the Silicon Valley Classic. The Bulldogs posted a 2-3 record against a strong field, and all five games were decided by three runs or less.
A pair of Bulldogs were named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday for their performance last weekend.
Sydney Grobman batted .412 (7-for-17) with four RBI, while pitcher
Nic Conway tossed 12 innings, yielded just two earned runs and struck out 13.
There were a number of other strong performances.
Miranda Papes earned the win in both of Yale's victories.
Katie Tews was 3-of-7 with a run scored in three games, while
Annie Tarte batted .375, tripled and knocked in three runs.
