Tanya Colón joined the Yale staff as the department’s business operations travel manager in September 2022. In January 2025, Colón was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director, Finance Administration.
Prior to joining the athletic department, Colón spent 10 years working at the Yale School of Medicine in Diagnostic Radiology and at the Yale Child Study Center.
She holds a master’s degree in education from the University of New Haven, a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Albertus Magnus College and an associate degree in general studies from Gateway Community College.
Active in the community, Colón is involved with the Yale Latino Networking Group, where she serves as a steering committee member, and previously served as co-chair. She enjoys giving back to the community by organizing outreach events with neighborhood partners.
In 2022, Colón was the recipient of the United Way Game Changer Award. The Game Changer Award is given to individuals described as unsung heroes that dedicate their time and effort to making an impact in the community. In 2021, she was presented the Yale FLY Community Leader Award. This award is given to an individual who enhances the university and Greater New Haven partnership through community service initiatives.
Colón, a West Haven, Conn. native, is the proud mother of five children. Outside of the office, she spends her time playing on a travel softball team and cheering on her children at their sporting events.
