Biography

2024-25 (First Year)
  • Competed in nine of Yale’s 11 tournaments.
  • Posted two top 20 finishes: Columbia Spring Invitational (1st) and Alex Lagowitz Memorial (2nd).
  • Tied for first place with Arkansas' John Daly II and Dartmouth's Tyler Brand at the Columbia Spring Invitational. Each golfer carded a 70 in the first round and a 69 in the second, finishing with a total of 139, one under par. It was the first top finish of Lin’s collegiate career.
  • Named the Ivy League Golfer of the Month for March for his performance at the Columbia Spring Invitational.
High School
  • Attended Head-Royce School (Calif.)
  • Helped his team to the 2023 league championships and was a two-time Bay Counties League's Most Valuable Player in 2022 and 2023.
  • Won the USGA-AJGA Presidents' Leadership Award.
  • Named AJGA Rolex Scholastic All-America and earned the Pursuit of Perfection Scholarship.
  • Winner of the 2024 Olympic Junior Club Championship.
  • Champion of the 2024 AJGA Junior at Ridge Golf Course in Auburn, CA.
  • Served as captain of the golf team from 2022-2024…also competed in tennis.
  • Ranked 43rd on the Junior Golf Scoreboard; Ranked 9th in California.
  • AJGA Rolex Ranked No. 33 and ranked No. 6 in California.
  • Finished with a 62 (-10) at AJGA Copper Valley and tied the course record.
  • Six Top-5 AJGA finishes.

  • Son of Patrick and Darlet Lin.
  • Mother, Darlet, graduated from UC Berkeley and Stanford's Graduate School of Business.
  • Father, Patrick, graduated from the University of Southern California and Northwestern's Kellogg School.
  • Sister, Sammy, studies at the University of Chicago and was a competitive junior golfer.
  • Founded Matt's Hole-In-One Camp to raise awareness & funds ($30k) for Ronnie Lott's All-Stars Helping Kids.
  • Volunteer for the CT Pan Foundation and Buster Posey Pediatric Cancer & AJGA Leadership Links.
  • Was the Co-Editor-in-Chief for the Hawk's Eye, his school newspaper in high school.
