NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Two Yale lightweight crew rowers, rising senior
Will Konopka (Philadelphia, Pa.) and rising junior
Timmy Parsons (Eugene, Ore.), competed for the United States at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships, which concluded Sunday. Konopka was part of a seventh-place finish in the U23 lightweight men's double sculls (BLM2x). Parsons was part of a tenth-place finish in the men's quadruple sculls (BM4x).
In the quadruple sculls, Parsons and the U.S. placed fourth in the B Final Sunday to finish 10th overall. The U.S. boat's time of 6:03.39 was just .01 behind Slovakia.
Parsons competed at the U23 World Rowing Championships in each of the previous two years, winning the B Final (seventh overall) in the lightweight single in 2024 and placing second in the C Final (14th overall) in the lightweight double in 2023.
In the lightweight double sculls, the team of Konopka and Ian Holly placed third in its heat on Thursday, missing out on a spot in the final.
The 2025 World Rowing Under 23 Championships took place July 23-27 on the Malta Regatta Course in Poznan, Poland.
