JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Four Bulldogs represented the Yale women's track and field team on the opening day of the NCAA East First Round, hosted by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville on Thursday. The day brought sweltering heat, high humidity, and a lightning delay that temporarily paused the action, but the challenging conditions didn't stop the Yale athletes from putting forth impressive efforts. Competing against some of the top athletes in the region, the Bulldogs rose to the occasion, showcasing the determination that has defined their season. The Bulldogs:
- Captain and senior Dominique Romain wrapped up her season with a 38th-place finish in the long jump, recording a mark of 5.75 meters (approximately 18 feet, 10.5 inches) on her third and final attempt. She entered the competition seeded 44th in the region and holds a personal best of 6.13 meters – just over 20 feet – which ranks her third on Yale's all-time list.
- In the 800 meters, sophomore Victoria Guerrier, who owns Yale's 800m school record, placed sixth in heat four with a time of 2:06.37. She earned 31st overall.
- Junior Carmel Fitzgibbon followed closely behind, finishing fifth in heat three in 2:07.12, placing 34th overall.
- Later in the evening, after a lightning delay postponed her event by nearly three hours, sophomore Gloria Guerrier competed in the 400 meter hurdles. She finished fifth in her heat with a time of 59.11 – just shy of her personal best of 59.02 – earning 35th overall.
