PHILADELPHIA – On the final day of the Penn Relays Saturday, the Yale women's track and field team sent a squad of four athletes to compete in the 4x800m relay.

The race featured teams from fellow Ivy League programs including Cornell, Penn and Princeton. Yale placed fourth overall (second only to Princeton among Ivy teams), clocking a combined time of 8:35.53. The relay team included senior Iris Bergman (2:10.09), junior Anna Chamberlin (2:10.66), sophomore Victoria Guerrier (2:07.70) and junior Carmel Fitzgibbon (2:07.09). With this performance, the team broke Yale's long-standing 4x800m school record of 8:38.92 by three seconds. The mark had stood since 1986, when it was set by the team of Heidi Waterfield '87, Kimberly Ford '87, Maureen Bolyea '87 and Louisa Gerritz '87. Full results are available here.

Looking ahead, select members of the team will compete Sunday at the Ken O'Brien Pre-Conference Meet in Amherst, Mass., hosted by UMass. The meet marks the final competition before the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held in New Haven from May 10–11.
