Makayla White and first year
Alyssa Anderson of the Yale women's track and field team competed in the second day of the heptathlon at the UMass Multi Meet. While White had previously participated in the indoor pentathlon, this marked the first time either athlete represented Yale in the heptathlon. The first day featured four events: the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m. After completing these four events on Wednesday, White was in second place with 2,760 points, while Anderson finished the day with 1,689 points.
The Bulldogs:
- After the second day of competition, White secured second place overall with a total of 4,542 points, setting a new personal record and sliding into third on Yale's All-Time Top 10 list. Her impressive performance across all events included a second-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.32m, a fourth-place finish in the javelin with a personal best throw of 31.93m, and a fourth-place finish in the 800m with a new personal record of 2:35.85.
- Anderson finished with 3,080 points, also a personal best. On her way, she set new personal records in the 100m hurdles, shot put, 200m and 800m.
