NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale gymnastics team saved its best for the last home meet of the year, scoring a season-best 195.125 on Sunday afternoon. Yale tied its best home meet mark in program history, placing second at the tri-meet featuring the University of Maryland and Long Island University.
The Terrapins placed first with 196.150, followed by Yale and LIU (194.550).
Key Performers
- Sophomore Ella Tashjian dazzled on floor, scoring a 9.900 to finish the meet in style. She was the top performer at the meet in the event. It was also the second time this season that Tashjian has scored a 9.900.Â
- First year Ellie Kearns gave a season-best performance on bars with a 9.850. Kearns' score was the second-best at the meet.
Meet Notes
- Yale tied its highest home score of all-time. The Bulldogs previously recorded the mark last season at the Tonry Invitational and the GEC Championships. It is also the third-highest score in program history overall.
- The Bulldogs also recorded season-highs on bars (48.950) and floor (49.225). Both marks are tied for the fifth-highest in program history. The team's vault score of 48.475 is the 10th-best all-time for the Bulldogs.Â
- Five Bulldogs tied or topped their previous season-best.
- Gigi Sabatini was outstanding in all four events, setting a season-best with an all-around score of 38.950. She had the second-highest score on floor with a 9.875.
- First year Hailey Kriz had the fourth-highest score on bars with a 9.825.
- Hana Strause was the Bulldogs' top performer on beam with a 9.800.
- Tashjian, Kriz, and Lauren Burt led the way on vault with identical 9.725 scores.Â
