HOUSTON, Texas – The Yale baseball team earned a gritty win over Rice on Friday evening at Reckling Park. The Bulldogs prevailed 8-4 in large part due to well-executed small ball, bunting and running to overwhelm the Owls' defense. The hosts committed four errors, while the Bulldogs played a clean game on the defensive end.
With the victory, Yale improved to 5-3 overall. The Owls dropped to 2-11.

Game Notes
- Friday marked the first matchup between Yale and Rice in baseball. It was just the 11th meeting between the two schools in any team sport.
- Colton Shaw started on the mound for Yale. He pitched 4.2 innings while allowing three runs. He struck out eight. Evans came on in relief and pitched into the ninth. Mick Kelley closed the door with a scoreless frame.
- Dauer stole his team-leading fourth base of the season. Kaiden Dossa tallied his third stolen base.
