SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Yale women's track and field team traveled to Smithfield, R.I., to compete in the second day of the Black and Gold Invitational Saturday. Despite the cooler temperatures, the Bulldogs brought their focus, knowing that each competition is an opportunity to fine-tune their performances ahead of future races. Among many upcoming invitationals, the team is also gearing up for the prestigious Harvard-Yale vs. Oxford-Cambridge meet – a celebrated international tradition – which will take place at home in New Haven on Apr. 12.

The Bulldogs:
- First year Zoe Martonfi took second place overall in the 1500m with a time of 4:37.64, just shy of her personal best. Joining her in the race were junior Daniella Henderson, who set a new personal record with a time of 4:42.95, and senior Kylie Goldfarb, who finished in 4:43.40.
- Junior Casia Provencal finished third in the 100m hurdles, posting a time of 15.47, despite a +2.5m/s wind.
- Sophomore Sophie Spokes claimed third place in the 100m with a time of 12.54 seconds, while senior Larissa Giles followed closely behind, finishing fourth in 12.69 seconds.
- First years Elaine Hudacsko and Anjali Yella competed in the 200m dash, clocking in at 26.26 and 26.42, respectively.
- In the jumps, junior Caroline Glessing kicked off her outdoor season with a 5.14m long jump, securing fourth place overall. First year Alyssa Anderson had a busy day, competing in the javelin, shot put and long jump, where she set a new personal record with a mark of 5.05m.
- In the shot put, sophomore Emma Peretti secured second place with a throw of 12.51m, earning her best mark of the season so far.
- With the meet still in progress, Yale is fifth out of 16 teams. The Bulldogs scored 64 points.
Up Next:
- Next weekend, the Bulldogs are planning to split up again. Some athletes will head down to Princeton, N.J., to compete in the Sam Howell Invitational, while others will stay local and race at the UConn Dog Fight Invite. Both meets will take place on Saturday.
- The Harvard-Yale vs. Oxford-Cambridge meet will be held in New Haven the following weekend, on Apr. 12.
