Bulldogs Wrap Up Day Two at Black and Gold Invite

Daniella Henderson (shown here) finished sixth in the 1500m.
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Yale women's track and field team traveled to Smithfield, R.I., to compete in the second day of the Black and Gold Invitational Saturday. Despite the cooler temperatures, the Bulldogs brought their focus, knowing that each competition is an opportunity to fine-tune their performances ahead of future races. Among many upcoming invitationals, the team is also gearing up for the prestigious Harvard-Yale vs. Oxford-Cambridge meet –  a celebrated international tradition – which will take place at home in New Haven on Apr. 12.

Full results from the Black and Gold Invitational can be found here.

The Bulldogs:
  • First year Zoe Martonfi took second place overall in the 1500m with a time of 4:37.64, just shy of her personal best. Joining her in the race were junior Daniella Henderson, who set a new personal record with a time of 4:42.95, and senior Kylie Goldfarb, who finished in 4:43.40.
  • Junior Casia Provencal finished third in the 100m hurdles, posting a time of 15.47, despite a +2.5m/s wind.

  • In the shot put, sophomore Emma Peretti secured second place with a throw of 12.51m, earning her best mark of the season so far.
  • With the meet still in progress, Yale is fifth out of 16 teams. The Bulldogs scored 64 points.

Up Next:
  • Next weekend, the Bulldogs are planning to split up again. Some athletes will head down to Princeton, N.J., to compete in the Sam Howell Invitational, while others will stay local and race at the UConn Dog Fight Invite. Both meets will take place on Saturday.
  • The Harvard-Yale vs. Oxford-Cambridge meet will be held in New Haven the following weekend, on Apr. 12.
