Strong Showing for Yale at Roy-al Rumble

STORRS, Conn. – The Yale women's track and field team saw multiple strong performances at the Coach Greg Roy-al Rumble hosted by UConn in Storrs, Conn., on Saturday. Full results can be found here.

Recapping the Day
  • Captain and senior Dominique Romain set a new personal best in the 60m prelims, running a time of 7.70 seconds to qualify for the finals. She also earned third place in the long jump with a mark of 5.57m.
  • In the shot put, senior Makayla Harris claimed third overall with her season-best throw of 12.65m. First year Anna Siciliano and sophomore Emma Peretti finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
  • Harris followed up with another impressive performance in the weight throw, setting a new personal record by nearly a meter. Her throw of 18.28m secured third place. First year Hannah Graham set her own personal best with a mark of 15.06m, and junior Charlie Williams threw 12.50m, also setting a new PR.
  • Sophomore Alexandra Bonn dominated the triple jump, winning with a mark of 11.44m — almost half a meter ahead of the runner-up.
  • Senior Arielle Moore earned second place in the 500m, finishing less than a tenth of a second behind the winner.
  • In the 1k, sophomore Kalista Villatoro won in decisive fashion, completing the five-lap race in 2:54.21. This marked her first time racing this distance.
  • Sophomore Sophie Spokes and senior Peyton Parker led a strong 300m showing, finishing first and second with times of 41.42 and 42.32 respectively. Parker also set a new personal record.
  • Yale also dominated the 300m, with first year Lily Jin winning the event in a personal best time of 10:21.30. Junior Marina Carlos took second place in 10:39.57, just shy of her own personal record.

  • The Bulldogs will head to Boston for multiple meets next weekend. Part of the squad will compete on Friday, Feb. 7, at Harvard's Crimson Elite, while others will race at Boston University's Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invite on Saturday, Feb. 8.
