Eight Bulldogs Compete at CSA Individual Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Eight members of the Yale men's and women's squash teams competed at the Collegiate Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships over the weekend.

Tad Carney, Arav Bhagwati, Lachlan Sutton, and Maxwell Orr competed for the Potter Cup. After winning his first match in straight games, Carney grinded out a five-set victory in the second round. In the quarterfinals, Carney squared off against Penn's Nicholas Spizzirri. The Bulldogs junior dropped the first two sets, but rallied to win the next three, earning a berth in the semifinals. Carney was finally brought down by No. 1 ranked Salman Khalil from Penn. Sutton reached the quarterfinals before falling to Omar Hafez. Bhagwati won one match, and Orr was the victor in two consolation matches.

On the women's side, Mika Bardin won two matches to claim the Holleran East bracket. First year Heng Wai Wong reached the quarterfinals of the Ramsay Cup, while classmate Spring Ma won a consolation bracket match. Meha Shah competed in the Holleran South bracket, picking up one win.

The Yale men's and women's squash teams return to action on Feb. 1 against Cornell.
