ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Yale gymnastics team kicked off the 2025 season with the top team score at a tri-meet hosted by Cornell. The Bulldogs bested the competition with a score of 193.700. The Big Red placed second with 193.150, followed by Bridgeport at 191.850.
Yale led off on the uneven bars, scoring 47.300.
Lauren Holt was the Bulldogs' top performer in the event with a score of 9.675, followed by first year
Ellie Kearns at 9.625. Holt's score was tied for second-best at the meet.
The Bulldogs then moved to the beam where they scored 48.625.
Hana Strause and
Gigi Sabatini led Yale with 9.775 and 9.500 respectively.
In the third rotation, the Bulldogs moved to the floor where they excelled, scoring as the top team at the meet with a 49.175. Yale had the top three performers at the event:
Megan Brueck,
Ella Tashjian, and
Ellie Kearns. All three topped 9.850.
Yale wrapped up its first meet of the season on vault with a 48.600, tying Cornell for the top team score. Sabatini was fantastic with the high score of the meet, 9.800. Kearns,
Hailey Kriz, and
Allie Forbes all made their collegiate debuts for the Bulldogs.
Yale will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 17 at Penn.Â
