NEW HAVEN, Conn. – An already historic season for the Yale women's lacrosse team added one more major accomplishment on Saturday at Reese Stadium – just in time for Senior Day. The Bulldogs' 18-5 win over Columbia earned them the outright Ivy League Championship, as they finished the regular season with a 7-0 record in league games. This was the first outright title and first 7-0 Ivy season in school history.
Yale (13-2, 7-0 Ivy League) had clinched at least a share of the Ivy League title with a 21-8 win at Cornell last Saturday. This Saturday, playing for the outright title knowing that second-place No. 18 Princeton had finished the season with a 6-1 league record, the Bulldogs seized control with a 6-0 second quarter and never looked back. Columbia (4-11, 0-7 Ivy League) scored only two goals in the second half.
