STORRS, Conn. – Despite home runs from both
Katie Donahey and
Libby Peoples, the Yale softball team fell to the University of Connecticut, 9-5, at Burrill Family Field. The loss puts the Bulldogs at 6-17 overall and the Huskies at 15-11.
Scoring Summary
- B1 | The Huskies made the first move of the game, hitting two-out solo home run to get on the board.
- T2 | Alex Perren knocked a first pitch, lead-off single to center field to get the Bulldogs a baserunner. In the next at bat, Donahey stepped to the plate and hit a 2-2 home run to left field that gave Yale the lead.
- B3 | UConn picked up two runs in the bottom of the third frame and took the one-run lead.
- T6 | Libby Peoples tied it with a home run to dead center field.
- B6 | The home side responded with a RBI double to left center to regain the lead. UConn extended its lead with a grand slam, 9-4.
- T7 | Yale grabbed two runs in the seventh in an effort to work on a comeback, but the Huskies held on and warded off the Bulldogs attempts.
