NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's basketball team is unbeaten in Ivy play as it reaches the halfway point of the league season. So is Cornell. The two teams meet in a Saturday matinee. Tipoff at the John J. Lee Amphitheater is 2 p.m. and ESPN+ has the video. Â

• The Bulldogs (15-6, 6-0 Ivy) have won eight straight games, their longest streak since 2018-19. Yale hasn't won nine consecutive games since the 2015-16 team rolled off 12 straight wins.

• The 6-0 start in Ivy play is the best for the Bulldogs since the 2015-16 team won its first eight league games as part of the 12-game winning streak.

• Yale is coming off a sweep of Princeton and Penn last weekend at Lee Amphitheater. The Bulldogs shot 50 percent from the field in the two games, including 61 percent (36-of-59) on two-point shots, while holding the Tigers and Quakers to 39 percent.

• Yale and Cornell are two of only three teams in the nation still unbeaten in conference play. Saint Mary's (WCC) is the other.

• The Bulldogs' eight-game winning streak is tied for the fourth longest active streak in the nation. UConn and Saint Mary's have both won 11 consecutive games, while Quinnipiac is on a 10-game streak.

Danny Wolf, who was named the Ivy League Player of the Week on Monday, leads the league and is 20th in the nation in rebounding (9.8 rpg.). Wolf, who is seventh in the league in scoring (14.9 ppg.), posted double-doubles in each of the two wins last weekend and has nine on the season, which is 29th nationally. Wolf has been the league player of the week in three of the last four weeks and four times this season overall.

John Poulakidas is fifth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage (44.6 percent).

Bez Mbeng has a league best 70 assists. He is second in the league with 39 steals and seventh in minutes played (31.7 per game).

Matt Knowling was 11-of-15 (.733) from the field in the two victories last weekend. He is now fourth in the league in field goal percentage at 57.4 percent.

Yale has won nine straight games over Cornell at Lee Amphitheater, including a 76-58 victory last year that was
James Jones' 200th Ivy League regular season win as the Bulldogs' head coach. He is one of only two coaches in league history with 200+ Ivy victories, joining Princeton's Pete Carril, who led the Tigers to 310 league victories. Yale and Cornell met three times last season. The Big Red won the first 94-82 in Ithaca, and then two weeks after the game in New Haven, the Bulldogs knocked off the Big Red 80-60 in the Ivy League Tournament semifinals. Yale leads the all-time series with Cornell 121-112. The first meeting came in 1899.

The Big Red (17-3, 6-0 Ivy) is coming off a sweep at Dartmouth and Harvard last weekend. Cornell has won seven straight games and is 10-1 in its past 11 games with its lone loss at nationally ranked Baylor. The Big Red's 10 victories away from home are tied for the most in the nation. Cornell's 17-3 start is its best after 20 games in a season since 1964-65 when it began 18-2. Cornell's bench averages 37.9 points per game, which leads the nation, and the Big Red is seventh nationally in field goal percentage. Cornell's leading scorer, Chris Manon, averages just 11.8 points, but eight Big Red players average 6.4 points or better. Brian Earl is in his eighth season as the head coach at Cornell. He is a 1999 Princeton graduate and left as the school's all-time leader with 281 three-pointers.
