Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jake Williams homered for the Bulldogs in a 6-1 loss to North Florida on Saturday evening.  With the loss, Yale fell to 0-2 on the season and will close out the three-game series tomorrow at 1 p.m. 

How it happened:

• Top 2 | Williams led off the inning with a homer over the center field wall to give Yale the early lead.
• Bottom 4 | Jabin Bates delivered a two-run double to give North Florida the lead.  Later in the inning, Cherokee Nichols plated another run on a RBI groundout.  Two of the three runs in the inning were unearned.
• Bottom 6 | Nichols doubled to left field on an 0-2 pitch to score Alex Rodriguez, who reached base three times in the game and scored two runs. 
• Bottom 8 | North Florida added one more run in the eighth when Cade Bush singled up the middle the middle.

Game notes:

• Colton Shaw started and went the first five innings for the Bulldogs.  Shaw allowed one earned run and struck out six.
• Bryant Reese, Ethan Lewis and Teo Spadaccini also made appearances on the mound for the Bulldogs.
• Garrett Larsen reached base three times for Yale with a hit and two walks.
• Williams' homer was the second of his Yale career, and the second in as many games for the Bulldogs.
• The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the fifth, and put the first two batters on base in the eighth but were unable to score.
