Bulldogs Open Season Saturday vs. Stanford

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The 2024 Yale women's lacrosse season gets underway in earnest on Saturday at Reese Stadium, as the Bulldogs – who are among the teams receiving votes in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA national poll – host Stanford, who is also receiving votes. The opening draw is set for noon (ESPN+, International Stream, Live Stats).
 
Collignon Honored
Junior attacker Jenna Collignon (Hinsdale, Ill.) was named to the Watch List for the 2024 Tewaaraton Award Friday night. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top female college lacrosse player in the United States. The award is also given to the top male college lacrosse player in the United States. So far this year Collignon has already been named Honorable Mention Preseason All-America by ILWomen and USA Lacrosse.
 
Checking the Polls
Yale was picked for third in the Ivy League Preseason Poll and is among the teams receiving votes in the ILWomen/IWLCA national poll.
 
Run it Back
Yale returns 28 players from last year's team, including six who started all 17 games.
 
Captain Conaghan
Senior attacker Chloe Conaghan (Chevy Chase, Md.) was elected captain by her teammates. Conaghan earned the team's Bulldog Award as most improved player last year, totaling four goals and five assists in the final three games.
 
Among Yale's Best
Yale's 11 wins last season tied for the most in a season by the team since 2008 (the 2022 squad finished with 11). The school record for wins in a season is 14 (1978, 1979, 1995, 1999, 2003). The Bulldogs finished in a tie for second in the Ivy League, marking the first time since 1984-85 that the team has finished second in the league in back-to-back seasons.
 
Scouting Stanford
Stanford (0-1, 0-0 Pac-12) fell 10-9 at No. 16 Virginia to open the season last weekend. The Cardinal went 10-8 last season, including an 8-2 mark in the Pac-12.
