HANOVER, N.H. – It was a strong start to the 2024 portion of the schedule for the Yale women's swimming and diving team. The Bulldogs cruised to a 228.50-71.50 victory over Penn and a 226-74 win over host Dartmouth.
In improving its overall record to 6-0 and Ivy mark to 4-0, Yale set four Karl Michael Pool records – the 200 medley relay team of
Alex Massey, Ava Franks, Vivian Weng and
Caroline McCurdy in 1:43.01,
Caroline Riggs in the 1,000 freestyle (10:00.94) and both
Jessey Li (1:00.97) and
Ava Franks (1:02.78) in the 100 breaststroke.
Li won two other individual events – the 50 freestyle (23.27) and the 200 breaststroke (2:16.94).
Massey won the 200 butterfly (2:02.54) and the 200 backstroke (2:02.91) and Riggs also captured the 500 freestyle (4:56.71).
Other winners for Yale were
Quinn Murphy in the 100 backstroke (57.08), Weng in the 200 freestyle (1:52.33),
Junseo Kim in the 100 butterfly (56.56) and Franks in the 200 IM (2:04.38).
In the 1-meter diving, the Bulldogs had the top two finishers –
Genevieve Thibodeau (266.05) and
Lily Horenkamp (257.50).
Yale is right back in action against Cornell early next week at Kiphuth Pool. The diving events are Monday at 3 p.m. and swimming is set for Tuesday at 4 p.m.
