Bulldogs Sweep Penn on Friday Night

Yale hits season-best .416 in the victory

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Bulldogs continued their fast start at home with a 3-0 victory over Penn on Friday night at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.  The scores of the match were 28-26, 25-11 and 25-18.

Match summary:
  • Yale has won seven of their last eight matches and improved to 5-0 at home this season.
  • Yale hit a season-high .416, and was the third time the team surpassed .300 in a match this season.
  • The Bulldogs hit a blistering .654 in an impressive second-set victory, and took control of the match.
  • Audrey Leak had 12 kills in 12 attacks in the second set, and finished with a career-high 23 kills while hitting .647.  Her previous career-best was 17 kills, which she accomplished twice last season.
  • Carly Diehl finished with 42 assists – a season-best in a three-set match.  Diehl also added four kills and five digs.
  • Laurece Abraham, Gigi Barr and Betsy Goodenow each had three kills in the first set victory, while Mila Yarich had six digs in the frame.
  • Yarich finished with a double-double – 10 kills and 12 digs with two aces.
  • Cara Shultz had a service ace and now has 91 in her career.  She has 91 in her Yale career, which is three away from tying Kendall Polan for 10th all time in program history.
