NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Bulldogs, who have won six of seven, welcome Penn and Princeton to John J. Lee Amphitheater this weekend.
Bulldog notes entering the weekend:
- Yale won its conference opener last Friday in a five-set, come-from-behind victory over Brown.
- After last Friday's victory, the Bulldogs extended their home win streak to 14. Yale is 4-0 at home in 2023.
- Gigi Barr earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors for her efforts in the victory over the Bears. Barr had 11 kills and hit. 409 with six blocks.
- Betsy Goodenow, a first-year, continued her impressive start. She had 13 kills against Brown and maintained her team lead with 97 kills on the season.
- Mila Yarich had a season-high 13 kills and led the team with 44 swings, and added nine digs, for the Bulldogs in the victory over the Bears.
- The Bulldogs received clutch play from Isabella Mendoza, Laurece Abraham and Audrey Leak. Mendoza had 10 over the final three sets, Abraham had four clutch kills in the fourth set, and Leak had a key kill and solo block in the fifth.
- The Bulldogs have a 26-14 edge over opponents in solo blocks this season.
- Yale has outhit opponents .235 to .222 this season.
Scouting Penn
The Quakers (2-10, 0-2 Ivy) dropped two matches to Princeton last weekend. First-year Zada Sanger enters the weekend tops among Ivy League players in kills (155) and is second kills per set (3.69). Penn has not won in New Haven since the 2010 season.
Scouting Princeton
The Tigers (5-5, 2-0 Ivy) have won three in a row heading into the weekend. Senior Kathleen Bishop has recorded a team-high 40 kills with a .432 hitting percentage in Princeton's last three wins, while first-year Sydney Draper is the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Week after Yale's
Betsy Goodenow won it the week before.
