NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In its final meet of 2023, the Yale men's and women's swimming and diving teams took on Southern Connecticut. The swim portion of the meet was at Southern and the diving portion was at Kiphuth Pool.
Yale looks to be ready for the post-holiday Ivy League schedule as the Bulldogs posted several strong results. On the men's side
Lucius Brown won the 50 and 150 backstrokes. Other winners were:
Finn Henry (300 free),
Alexander Hazlett (50 breast),
Deniel Nankov (150 fly),
Jack Saber (50 free),
Sungmin Kang (800 IM),
Ben Meulemans (150 free) and
Charlie Egeland (150 breast).
For the women,
Caroline McCurdy and
Caroline Riggs were double winners. McCurdy captured the 150 and 300 freestyles, while Riggs won the 50 and 150 breaststrokes. Other winners were:
Sara Plunkett (50 back),
Vivian Weng (150 fly),
Nina Allen (50 free),
Junseo Kim (800 IM) and
Ele Donegan (150 back).
In the diving,
Jean Paul Ditto won both the men's 1 and 3-meter events. On the women's side,
Laurel Jin was the 3-meter winner and
Hayden Henderson won the 1-meter.
The final score of the men's meet was Yale 187, Southern Connecticut 70. The Yale women defeated the Owls 180-70.
Both the men's and women's teams are back in action on Jan. 13 against Dartmouth and Penn in New Hampshire.
