SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Bulldogs capped off a 3-0 weekend with a sweep of Hofstra on Saturday afternoon. The scores of the match were 25-22, 25-15 and 25-22.
Fresh off a 15-kill, double-double effort in the victory over Syracuse,
Cara Shultz was named tournament MVP with another solid performance today. Shultz had 14 digs, eight kills and three aces against Hofstra.
Carly Diehl and
Audrey Leak were also named to the all-tournament team.
"I thought we fought real hard, played real well and bonded as a team this weekend," Yale head coach
Erin Appleman said.
Mila Yarich had her second double-double of the weekend with 11 kills and 15 digs. Leak added 10 kills, five digs and three blocks.
Yale closed out the match on a 16-5 run. Yarich had four kills in the final set, while Leak added three including match point.
It was Yarich and Shultz who went back to back with kills to close out the first set. In the second set, the Bulldogs used a 7-0 run to take a 20-10 lead.
During the run, Yale used two aces from Diehl. It was another solid serving effort for the Bulldogs, who held an 8-2 edge in the match.
On defense,
Bella Chan added 10 digs. At the net,
Fatima Samb led the way with four blocks, while
Gigi Barr and Leak added three each.
