Bulldogs Drop Season Finale on Sunday

Seniors honored during post-game ceremony

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Grad student Teddy Hague and senior team captain Mason LaPlante both reached base four times today in their final Yale game in a 10-6 loss to Harvard at George H.W. Bush '48 Field.

Hague also blasted an opposite field homer to left field and finished with two hits and two walks.  All five student-athletes playing their final Yale game today made a positive contribution.

LaPlante had two hits, two walks and two runs scored.  Seniors Pierce Blohowiak, Jake Gehri and Ben Gibbs also played their final games today.

Blohowiak delivered a RBI double in the second and later in the game made a diving catch in center.  Gehri had a hit and Gibbs tossed one and 1/3 scoreless innings with a strikeout.

The Bulldogs got off to a fast start with LaPlante stealing third and scoring on a wild pitch in the first.  Yale scored three times in the third with run-scoring hits from Blohowiak, LaPlante and Hague.

Today also marked the final game for head coach John Stuper, who honored Blohowiak, Gehri, Gibbs, Hague, Grant Kipp and LaPlante in a ceremony following the game.  Stuper ends his Yale career as the winningest coach in the Bulldogs' storied 150-plus year program history.

Yale took two of three in the series and finished the season 20-18 overall and 10-11 in Ivy League play.
