Teddy Hague and senior team captain
Mason LaPlante both reached base four times today in their final Yale game in a 10-6 loss to Harvard at George H.W. Bush '48 Field. Â
Hague also blasted an opposite field homer to left field and finished with two hits and two walks. All five student-athletes playing their final Yale game today made a positive contribution.
LaPlante had two hits, two walks and two runs scored. Seniors
Pierce Blohowiak,
Jake Gehri and
Ben Gibbs also played their final games today.
Blohowiak delivered a RBI double in the second and later in the game made a diving catch in center. Gehri had a hit and Gibbs tossed one and 1/3 scoreless innings with a strikeout. Â
The Bulldogs got off to a fast start with LaPlante stealing third and scoring on a wild pitch in the first. Yale scored three times in the third with run-scoring hits from Blohowiak, LaPlante and Hague. Â
Today also marked the final game for head coach
John Stuper, who honored Blohowiak, Gehri, Gibbs, Hague,
Grant Kipp and LaPlante in a ceremony following the game. Stuper ends his Yale career as the winningest coach in the Bulldogs' storied 150-plus year program history.
Yale took two of three in the series and finished the season 20-18 overall and 10-11 in Ivy League play. Â
