WEST HAVEN, Conn. -- Grant Kipp tossed a complete-game three-hitter and
Mason LaPlante homered to lead the Bulldogs to a game-two victory on Saturday afternoon.
Kipp struck out seven, allowed three hits and walked one to earn the victory. With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 14-9 and 5-3 in Ivy League play.
Dartmouth won game one 14-4.
In game two, LaPlante had two hits, including a solo homer in the fourth, and scored two runs. LaPlante led off the game with a single and eventually scored the first run on a
Jimmy Chatfield sac fly.
Yale scored three in the third. Chatfield singled home
Colton Shaw,
Teddy Hague produced a sac fly and
Tommy Martin was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
It was all the support Kipp needed. Kipp took a shutout into the seventh and faced three over the minimum. He retired the side in order in the ninth to earn Yale's first complete game of the season.
In game one, Dartmouth led 8-1 after three innings and never trailed. Hague had two hits and two runs scored, while
AJ Gaich had two hits and two RBI to lead the Bulldogs' offense.
The two teams wrap up the three-game series tomorrow with a single game beginning at noon.
