NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's tennis team wraps up the season with a pair of matches this weekend. The Bulldogs host Dartmouth on Friday at 3 p.m. and then have a date at Harvard on Sunday at 2 p.m. Friday's home match is scheduled to be held on the outdoor courts with
live stats available.
Friday is Senior Day at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center, and
Cody Lin, Yale's lone senior, will be recognized. Lin, a Thousand Oaks, Calif., native, has enjoyed an outstanding career for the Bulldogs. He has spent much of this spring playing No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles. In 2019-20, he led the team in both singles and doubles wins and was the recipient of the team's George A. Phelps Memorial Award, which honors the member of the team who has shown the greatest improvement during the year. As a rookie in 2017-18 he was the co-recipient of Stuart D. Ludlum Jr. '62 Memorial Award, which is given to the player who exhibits the qualities of enthusiasm, perseverance, and team spirit, despite missing the season with an injury.
"When Cody made the decision to take a couple of leave terms so he could come back and play this year, I was thrilled," said
Chris Drake, the Cary Leeds Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "Cody has always been a mature, hard-working presence on the team and he's a great player as well. I knew he would help us on and off the court and he certainly has. It took him a little while to find his footing returning to competition, but I'm really proud of how he battled through and has played his best, most competitive tennis at the end of the year. We will miss Cody going forward but I'm excited to see all the great things to come for him after he graduates."
Dartmouth is coming off losses to Penn (7-1) and Princeton (5-2) last weekend at home. The Big Green hosts Brown on Sunday.
Harvard, which plays at Brown on Friday, has won six straight matches, including a 4-1 win over No. 28 Northwestern on Wednesday. The Crimson is up to No. 14 in the ITA national rankings and is 5-0 in Ivy League play.
