NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The No. 4 Elis started off 2022 strong with a 6-3 victory over No. 7 Drexel. The Bulldogs are now 7-0 against Drexel since 2014.
Yale was carried by the middle of its lineup, which has been the backbone of the team so far this season. No. 4 Gigi Yeung, No. 5 Meghna Sreedhar, and No. 6 Brianna Jefferson all beat their opponents in four games. No. 7 Captain Aishwarya Bhattacharya swept her opponent in under 20 minutes with a score of 11-5, 11-2, 11-7.
The pivotal match of the afternoon was No. 3 Christy Lau's 3-2 victory over her opponent Margot Prow. After taking the first two games 11-6, Christy dropped games three and four before finishing off her opponent 11-5 in the fifth game.
Yale will take its 3-0 record to New York next weekend to face No. 8 Cornell on Saturday and No. 6 Columbia on Sunday.
