Bulldogs Win Three of Five at Brandeis Invitational

Yale edges Brandeis & MIT 14-13, Beats UIW 19-8

The Yale men's fencing team won three of five bouts at the Brandeis Invitational, edging Brandeis and MIT 14-13 and knocking off Incarnate Word 19-8. The losses came to Boston College 16-11 and St. John's 18-9.
 
In the thrilling victory over Brandeis, the Bulldogs were led by the foil team of Earnest Chen, Maxwell Yee and Allan Ding, who posted a 7-2 record.
 
In the close win over MIT, Yale got 5-4 wins from the foil and saber squads.
 
The saber squad led the way against Incarnate Word, posting a 7-2 win.
 
"Overall, it was a good effort by everyone," said Marat Israelian, Yale's interim head coach of the men's and women's teams. "Both our men's and women's teams were fighting the entire day. Everyone now knows what they need to work on, and we are on to the next meet at Penn State in January. I'm proud of the team for the way they were fighting and competing today."
 
The Penn State Invitational is set for Jan. 8-9.
