Meloni Stops 32 Shots in 4-0 Win Over No. 4 Raiders

Four different Bulldogs score to complete weekend sweep

HAMILTON, N.Y.Gianna Meloni capped a perfect weekend in net by stopping all 32 shots in Yale's 4-0 win over No. 4 Colgate at the Class of 1965 Arena.

Meloni, who was perfect last night in a 7-0 win at Cornell, helped the Elis complete one of the most dominating weekends in program history. Coming home with points from the Ithaca/Hamilton trip is one of the most difficult tasks in ECAC Hockey.

"It was a tremendous effort again today - and for the entire weekend defensively," said Mark Bolding, Yale's Susan Cavanagh Head Coach. "Gianna stood tall and we had great leadership throughout these tough games.  We weathered a strong second-half charge by Colgate but still were able to find the back of the net which is very encouraging."

Yale's senior goalie was facing the highest scoring team in the country, one that entered its 14th game of the season with an 11-2 record. The Bulldogs are now 4-2 overall and 2-2 in ECAC play after outscoring this weekend's opponents by a combined 11-0.

"Our team was really solid tonight. It's easier to play when you're scoring and your teammates are responding to communication in the D-zone," said Meloni. "Everyone stepped up and played a complete 60 minutes, so I'm excited to see where we can go from here."

Charlotte Welch, Elle Hartje, Rebecca Vanstone and Tess Dettling found the net, while Hartje and Dettling, who had a shorthanded goal, each had two-point outings.
