Seitz OT Tally Lifts Yale

No. 6 Elis get past LIU 2-1

Box Score EAST MEADOW, N.Y.Emma Seitz, the recipient of ECAC Hockey Player of the Week honors the last two weekends, scored in overtime to give the No. 6 Bulldogs a 2-1 win over Long Island University at Northwell Health Ice Center.

Elle Hartje, skating 3-on-3 in the extra session, had the puck often on the opening shift. It eventually found Anna Bargman in the corner who moved it out to Seitz at the point. The junior blueliner, who had three goals last weekend, took a few strides toward the net and then fired one past Tindra Holm.

The Elis, who are unbeaten in their last seven outings, put 56 shots on Holm, one of the Swedish National goalies, while Pia Dukaric made 13 saves for Yale.

Yale cashed in on its third power-play chance of the first period to grab a 1-0 lead. Tess Dettling flicked the puck past Holm at 15:56. That tally included assists by Rebecca Vanstone and Bargman, who finished with two points.

Both teams had 5-on-3 opportunities in a scoreless second frame as the Elis continued to pour on the shots. Holm and Dukaric stopped everything in the third period leading to the OT.

The Bulldogs are next in action against No. 5 Quinnipiac in Friday's Nutmeg Classic semifinal at 6:15 p.m.
