CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the ninth before the final out was recorded in a 3-2 loss to Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoon.
Teddy Hague went 3 for 4, drove in both Yale runs and stole a base.Â
Harry Hegeman reached base three times and scored a run for the Bulldogs.
Hegeman singled to lead off the first and
Mason LaPlante followed with a walk. After the next two batters were retired, Hague singed to left to score Hegeman to tie the game at 1-1.
The Pioneers scored two in the fifth off of Yale starter
Ben Gibbs, who went the first six innings, to take a 3-1 lead.
Mike Walsh relieved Gibbs and tossed three scoreless innings. Â
Yale used a two-out rally in the eight to get a run back.
Jake Gehri doubled to left center and
Pierce Blohowiak pinch ran for him. Hague followed with a double to score Blohwiak. Â
Cole Shelton started the ninth-inning rally with one of his two hits on the day.Â
AJ Gaich replaced Shelton on a fielder's choice and Hegeman drew a walk. Â
LaPlante beat out an infield single to short stop to load the bases before
Carson Swank filed to right for the final out. Â The Bulldogs had 10 hits and left 10 on base for the game.Â
Yale wraps up the weekend with a game tomorrow against the University of Richmond. The game is set to begin at 3 p.m.Â
