Late Rally Falls Short Against Sacred Heart

Teddy Hague Delivers Three Hits, Drives in Both Yale Runs

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the ninth before the final out was recorded in a 3-2 loss to Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoon.

Teddy Hague went 3 for 4, drove in both Yale runs and stole a base.  Harry Hegeman reached base three times and scored a run for the Bulldogs.

Hegeman singled to lead off the first and Mason LaPlante followed with a walk.  After the next two batters were retired, Hague singed to left to score Hegeman to tie the game at 1-1.

The Pioneers scored two in the fifth off of Yale starter Ben Gibbs, who went the first six innings, to take a 3-1 lead. Mike Walsh relieved Gibbs and tossed three scoreless innings.

Yale used a two-out rally in the eight to get a run back. Jake Gehri doubled to left center and Pierce Blohowiak pinch ran for him.  Hague followed with a double to score Blohwiak.

Cole Shelton started the ninth-inning rally with one of his two hits on the day.  AJ Gaich replaced Shelton on a fielder's choice and Hegeman drew a walk.

LaPlante beat out an infield single to short stop to load the bases before Carson Swank filed to right for the final out.  The Bulldogs had 10 hits and left 10 on base for the game.

Yale wraps up the weekend with a game tomorrow against the University of Richmond.  The game is set to begin at 3 p.m.
