Box Score CANTON, N.Y. – Three different Bulldogs, including a blueliner and two forwards from different lines, hit the net but Yale goalie
Gianna Meloni stole the show with a 28-save shutout in a 3-0 victory at St. Lawrence.
The Elis are now in fifth place, a point behind fourth-place Harvard and a pair back of a nationally-ranked Clarkson team that hosts Yale Saturday at 3 p.m.
Sophomore blueliner
Emma Seitz got things started for the Yale offense with 15 seconds left in the first period. Her shot from the point went through traffic to stun the home team and take the momentum away from the Saints.
After 35 minutes of scoreless play junior forward
Tess Dettling found the net at 15:28 of the third before classmate
Lucy Burton put the game away only 30 seconds later.
"It was a great game and a nice team win for us," said
Mark Bolding, Yale's Susan Cavanagh Head Coach. "We really needed that."
Meloni, the Eli junior, earned her sixth career shutout and first of the season in a game her team was outshot by nine.
Yale (14-10-0, 11-6-0), which swept the Saints this season, has won seven of the last 10 and has a shot at earning home ice for the ECAC Tournament. Eight teams qualify for the post season and the top four get home series.
