BOSTON, Mass. – The No. 6 Yale Men's Squash Team heads to Harvard for this weekend's College Squash Association National Collegiate Men's Team Championships. The Bulldogs open on Friday at 4 p.m. with No. 3 Penn on the courts of the Murr Center.
Â
The Quakers beat Yale 9-0 in Philadelphia on Feb. 2, but there were many close matches and the Elis are optimistic about their first-round, quarterfinal contest in the quest for the Potter Cup.
Â
"We are looking forward to the challenge of taking on higher seeded Penn at nationals in the first round," said Yale Captain
Spencer Lovejoy. "Some may say it is a tough matchup for us as they beat us handily in the regular season, but I only see it as an opportunity to showcase our squash. I have learned over my four years on the team that anything can happen if you believe you can win. I know we are capable of playing good squash. If we do, I think we have a chance to win."Â
Â
The winner of the Yale-Penn matchup meets with winner of No. 2 Trinity vs. No. 7 Virginia on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The loser goes to the consolation semifinals also played at noon on Saturday.
Â
The other Friday contests are No. 1 Harvard vs. No. 8 Drexel and No. 4 Princeton vs. No. 5 Rochester.
