Bulldogs Make It Seven Straight Wins

Yale Improves to 3-0 in League Play

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Bulldogs made it seven wins in a row with a 3-1 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday night at the John J. Lee Amphitheater. 

The scores of the match were 25-22, 23-25, 25-15 and 25-19.

Samantha Bray smashed 17 kills and team captain Izzy Simqu added 15 to lead the Bulldogs to their third straight win to begin the Ivy League season.  Frances Arnautou had 44 assists, 10 digs and had eight kills without an error on 11 attacks for a .727 hitting percentage.

Yale improved to 7-5 overall, while Dartmouth fell to 5-7 and 1-2 in league play. 

The Bulldogs broke a 1-1 tie in the match with hot hitting in the third set.  Yale hit .412 for the set and jumped out to an 11-3 to take control. 

Yale used a 12-1 run in the fourth to gain a 22-16 lead.  Yale grabbed the lead after block assists from Bonnie Bostic and Simqu.

After a kill from Frances Arnautou, Bostic and Simqu added another block to give Yale a 19-16 advantage.  Later in the set, Bostic and Simqu provided back-to-back kills to put the Bulldogs at match point. 

Ellis DeJardin had a match-high 17 digs, while Arnautou and Maile Somera each had 10.  Yurika Boyd added three services aces for the Bulldogs. 

The Bulldogs return to action next weekend with a matches at Penn on Saturday and Princeton on Sunday.  The match against the Tigers will be aired on ESPNU beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
