Box Score Richard Slenker drove in four and extended his hit streak to seven games to help pace the Bulldogs to a mid-week 8-4 win at Fordham on Wednesday evening.
With the win the Bulldogs improve to 24-15, while Fordham dropped to 18-19.
Tim DeGraw added four hits, scored two runs and had two RBI for first-place Yale, which closes out the Ivy League regular season with four games against Brown this weekend.
Tyler Sapsford (1-1) went 2 and 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win. He allowed one run, one hit, struck out two without issuing a walk. Thomas Espig started for Yale, allowed two runs and pitched into the fifth.
Yale extended its lead with a five-run sixth, highlighted by a two-run double by DeGraw to score Alex Boos and Brian Ronai (two hits and two stolen bases in the game).
Slenker started the scoring for the Bulldogs, who never trailed in the game. He had an RBI ground out in the first and added a two-run single in the second to give Yale an early 3-0 lead.
The Yale captain, Slenker, now has 30 RBI on the season, a personal single-season best for the senior. He had 28 RBI last season.
